What can poetry do?

DSCF0077

Ever wonder what poetry has done, how it has impacted our history and evolution and what more can poetry achieve…

Poetry can heal,

Deep dark wounds,

And the ones,

That doesn’t squeal,

Poetry can accord peace,

Melt shells around hearts,

Unravel the knots,

And contain this disease,

Poetry can raise concern,

Ignite the minds,

Stare down the blots,

And let them burn,

Poetry makes you celebrate,

Fireworks with words,

Shining with rhymes,

And hearts that vibrate,

Poetry is romance,

Love in its purest form,

Emotions you adorn,

Flying high in trance,

Poetry is woe,

Tears you can’t contain,

The weights and heavy blow,

And the Guilt you can’t tow,

Poetry is wisdom,

Exhilarating insight,

In darkness the light,

The cage and the freedom,

Poetry sets you free,

To limitless skies,

The deepest of dives,

And the count of three,

Poetry is what you are,

It’s what you see,

What you want to be,

The whole life in .rar,

Poetry has no bounds,

It knows no fear,

It’s clear yet nebulous,

And never lost nor found,

Poetry can bring change,

The positivity we need,

The moments we crave,

Even if it sounds strange,

More often it sound strange…

It is that time of the year again and this little one from my archive still holds true.

Hey guys!

I have been away for a while (thank you if you had noticed) and the reasons have been many. In fact, more than I care to count. And these few days have changed my life forever as I have been promoted to the post of father from husband. Yes, it’s a boy. I have been blessed with a beautiful baby and I couldn’t have asked for more.

Piku’s 1st Diwali 🙂

ख़ुदा  कुछ  यूँ  मेहरबान  हो  गया;

He is the best thing that has happened to me, like ever and the feeling is too flamboyant to contain in my heart and it will eventually seep onto my blog.

He has my eyes and her smile,

A bit of us both, with his own style;

My cutie, my love, my childhood and fun,

The trophy of my life, my darling, my son!!

Also, New Year is coming and I have a few plans for my blog and I am sure it will be exciting. For now, thank you for all your support and keep in touch for more.

See you soon (and hopefully more often)

Gearing up for Diwali

Ravan was the primary antagonist in the Epic Ramayana but he was not all about negativity. He was a great scholar and a worthy opponent of lord Ram himself. There is no denying that Ravan did some good things and Ram did bad things too making both of them grey rather than black and white. Of course, one grey-er than the other but the point is that we can choose to see good in both of them. So, wouldn’t it be better if we plant the seeds of Ram in our lives rather than burning wooden Ravans. Burning effigies of Ravan may have been a custom, a symbolism but it is hardly anything more than a blob of smoke in present times. People barely know more about Ramayana than what was shown in the famous TV series. Yes, because we don’t read anymore, don’t question and that’s why we don’t know why things are being done like the way they are. So, it is more like an obligation than a celebration.

Tumultuous milieu,
Insouciant soul in saudade,
Life lost its purpose…

                                 -doc2poet

The world around us is changing, so should we. I hope we decide to plant a tree instead, in the name of lord Ram, to celebrate Dussehra. Because I feel creating something is much better than killing. It will be a more constructive approach; at least a positive one and the Ram born inside us will eventually kill the Ravans in our hearts and minds  while making the city  green and clean.

I hope we can come up with greener ways to celebrate our festivals so we can keep the spirit alive, celebrate our rich cultural heritage and pass on this legacy to our kids with a positive message.

We just went past #Dussehra and #Durga-Puja and the fireworks of Diwali are just around the corner, here is a post from my archives portraying the changing face of festivals and the need to fix them. Hope you had a wonderful extended weekend studded with festivities and wish you a Happy and prosperous Diwali in advance. 🙂

So it’s it time that we changed it? So if you were to rewrite the Diwali Celebrations #changingdiwali
